The couple hug after a fun date.
For its February issue, The Warrior set up blind dates between four single students. Each couple met at Mama Lucia’s for a "romantic" date. Here’s what they had to say...
The Paticipants: Eric Shapiro '11 and Katelyn Sweeney '10
What were your feelings before the date?
Eric
: I called my best friend before because I was nervous.
Katelyn
: I was excited for a new adventure.
Were you surprised when you saw who it was?
Eric
: I was surprised. The moment she walked in the
door, time slowed down and I couldn’t help but
watch her as she approached me.
Katelyn
: Yeah—but in a good way.
Did you know the other person prior to the date?
Eric
: I knew of her, but I had never met her.
Katelyn
: No, I did not.
In your opinion was there chemistry during the date between you two?
Eric
: We hit if off right away. It was non stop chatting and laughing the whole time. I think I found my soul mate.
Katelyn
: If you’re talking the science type, then yes. But we both prefer math.
Did you have a lot to talk about?
Eric
: Lots. Time passes really fast when you are having fun.
Katelyn
: Tons—time flies when you are having fun.
Do you guys have anything in common?
Eric
: We both like The Kooks. We both share a deep passion for long walks on the beach and nice glasses of scotch.
Katelyn
: We both like The Kooks and meat and his bushy hair.
What was something new you learned about the other person?
Eric
: I learned that she likes The Kooks and that she thinks field hockey is boring, even though she plays it.
Katelyn
: He was able to drink a whole glass of water without the waiter filling it up again, and he plays the flute.
Are you happy with how the date went?
Eric
: I had a fabulous time. Maybe in the future it could happen again.
Katelyn
: Si! He’s a cool dude.
Would you go on a date with this person again?
Eric
: I had a lot of fun and I could see us hanging out in the future. She was cute and easy to talk to.
Katelyn
: Maybe not a date, but since we know each other now, we could hang out. He was cute and funny; we clicked.
Could you ever see things evolving from this date?
Eric
: This is a match made in heaven. But really, I made a friend out of this.
Katelyn
: I hear the wedding bells, but [really], I did make a friend.
